Five areas of your business to examine:
1.
Borrowing Costs - take a closer look at
all of your loans - are you paying different rates of
interest ? can you reduce the interest rate ? is
it worth combining all of the loans into one ? is the
repayment period correct ?
2. Work with
suppliers to increase your payment period/terms
so that you try to align your payments to your receipts
- ideally you want to be paid before you pay for the
same items
3. Examine areas
such as postage (use second class or email), printing
(ink & paper), faxing (scan & email instead),
advertising, phones, canteen, stationery - these
are normally quick easy wins
4. Spend
time with employees examining how their area
operates, are there ways to improve ? what problems do
they have ? it is important to involve the employee(s)
in any solution(s) so that they see the results of their
efforts - try to create an environment where
constant improvement through individual and team efforts
is the norm
5.Is there a need for
training, coaching or cross skilling. Allow
staff to spend a period of time in another area so that
they can see the other side of the coin and help to
build a 'team' ethos |
